This week, we’d like to highlight Lesley Lin, Senior Technical Consultant at TaxBit.
Q: Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m a global citizen and a linguaphile. Having lived on two continents, and seven states within the US, I learned to speak four languages with varying levels of fluency throughout the years. I am fascinated by other cultures and economies, and I’d love to learn about yours!
I have an instinct for identifying paths to empower people with resources and solutions to achieve their potential. It’s my superpower.
I have undergrad degrees in Finance and Business Analytics from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, and a Masters in Information Systems from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington. I previously worked at EY, Slalom, and Google before coming to TaxBit.
Q: What made you choose TaxBit?
I started to explore cryptocurrencies in 2014 when I led a team of college students to tackle PwC's case study around taxations on virtual currency and its microfinance environment. I've been a strong believer in wide adoption of crypto assets ever since.
2020 was a year full of reflections, and it made me rethink the possibility of pursuing my interest as a career. I believe automating the reporting and accounting experience will increase the speed of digital asset adoption.
As a Senior Technical Consultant at TaxBit, I build and scale product implementations where I leverage my experience in management and tech consulting with my background in high tech, finance, and cryptocurrency.
Q: What’s your favorite part of working at TaxBit?
I enjoy working at the intersection of multidisciplinary spaces.You’ll find me leading external client engagements, working closely with the Engineering and Subject Matter Experts team, and collaborating on proposals with the Sales team.
My favorite part is to get people excited about the future of crypto by speaking at internal and external engagements, and being the first to know what innovations are happening in the cryptoverse.
Q: What interests you most about the digital asset space?
The speed of innovation in this space amazes me, specifically decentralized finance (DeFi) and its impact on the traditional financial services industry. I’m curious to see how DeFi will transition from the wild west to mainstream adoption.
Q: What are some of your favorite activities outside of work?
I’ve fallen in love with skiing, I’ve become a ski bum. (Team Epic Pass!) I went from 0 to 25 indoor plants over the course of the pandemic. (Proud plant mom.) And I like to visit a new restaurant whenever possible.
Q: What is an item on your bucket list?
Scuba diving in Thailand.

Book you’ve read more than once: I’ve read most of Louis Cha’s Wuxia novels more than once. I’ve watched all the movies and TV adaptations of one of his Wuxia romances—The Return of the Condor Heroes.
