About the Speakers

David Thomson

Web3 Practice Lead / CFO at Attivo Partners

Dave leads Attivo’s Web3 practice working with more than 40 companies where he provides specialized technical and operational guidance. He also serves as a CFO for some of our clients. He has over 10 years of experience as a CFO. As an operational CFO Dave has exceptional analytical and financial modeling skills applied to SaaS and financial products such as cryptocurrencies. Dave spent his early career on Wall Street with Merrill Lynch responsible for budgeting, financial reporting, controls, and profitability analysis for financial products with over $3 billion in revenue, as well as over $100M in annual technology spend for several business units. In addition to his work with Attivo, Dave runs a family office specializing in high-frequency cryptocurrency trading, market making, and yield farming for the past six years.

Mackenzie Patel

Founding Partner at Hash Basis

Mackenzie Patel is a CPA and the CEO of Hash Basis, a crypto-native accounting firm. She and her business partner, Courtney, started Hash Basis to share their crypto accounting & tax expertise with the blockchain industry. She also does the accounting for dOrg, the first DAO to be incorporated as an LLC in the United States. Mackenzie is based in San Francisco and loves hiking around Angel Island.

Aaron Jacob

Head of Accounting Solutions

Prior to TaxBit, Aaron spent eight years at Chatham Financial working with the treasury and accounting teams of corporate and large financial services clients. He advised companies on: derivative portfolio management; finance and accounting process transformation; technical accounting solutions; and oversaw the development of Chatham’s core financial services technology. During this time, Jacob worked across many asset classes including: equities, foreign currency, interest rates, and commodities.

Aaron previously worked at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), where he assisted the Board in making improvements to US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). 

He has a Master’s Degree in Accounting from BYU and earned his MBA from The Wharton School where he graduated as a Palmer Scholar.
